The University of the Arts London, or UAL, is an amalgamation of SIX distinctive and world-class Colleges namely:
Camberwell College of Arts
Central Saint Martins College of Arts & Design
Chelsea College of Art & Design,
London College of Communication,
London College of Fashion,
Wimbledon College of Art.
The six Colleges are all located within London which is arguably the cultural capital of the world. As a specialist provider of art, design, fashion, communication and performance education, UAL offers a unique experience. The courses offered by the Colleges range from foundation and undergraduate to postgraduate and research. Active practitioners and professionals in their respective Art & Design fields regularly teach and research in the Colleges. You will be immersed in the world of professional practice from day one of your studies through live briefs, work placements, exhibitions and performances.
Studying with us means you will build a global network of friends and contacts and gain a truly international outlook on life.
“London life is indescribable! In my two years I have seen some amazing things – fashion, culture, exhibitions, architecture, theatre. London is crowded with world class museums, galleries, designer studios, boutiques – there are pockets of the world all over London – it is a huge classroom, you learn so much inside and outside the University. Best of all, I met with students from all over the world from whom I learnt so much and with whom I networked.”
A few of the notable alumni of the University include: Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, John Hurt, Alan Rickman, Jimmy Choo, Linda Bennett, Stella McCartney, John Galiano, Alexander McQueen, Ibrahim Hussein, Lucien Freud and Anish Kapoor.
The courses take a student-centred approach to learning and incorporate practical, critical and professional studies to guide you through your chosen discipline. Learning at all Colleges is practice-based, creative and strongly linked with industry. You will constantly be challenged to excel, to push the boundaries, to be innovative and different. We take your talent and dedication seriously, because we know it is vital to your future.
Saintfield is a dedicated representative of UAL. We do not represent any other university anywhere. Welcome to study with leaders in the field of Art & Design.
The entry requirements will depend on the level of the course. Suffice to say some courses require a portfolio while some do not. Check for details by going into the website.
For student visa purposes the British Border Security requires all Malaysian students to do an IELTS. The band grade and section grades required will depend on the programme.
Our links with top names in business and the arts and design world will help you to establish and build creative networks in your chosen specialist area. You will also benefit from support by our dedicated professional development programmes, talks and events, work placements, internships, awards and exhibitions where you can showcase your work.
Our Student Enterprise and Employability Service (SEE) is a new centre of excellence that supports the creative and commercial potential of students and graduates. Working closely with colleagues in the individual Colleges the SEE Team aims to equip students and graduates with the skills to develop their practice, products, knowledge and intellectual capital through tailored advice and support.
SEE services and activities include a range of high-quality business and practice-focused advice workshops. Work opportunities, seminars and networking events, a dedicated website with the latest interactive tools and Artsmart and Enterprise Week, two milestone initiatives each academic year that support students’ and graduates’ creative employment prospects.
The Accommodation Services team is available to help you with accommodation options throughout your time with us as a student. Whether you choose to live in one of the University’s Halls of Residence located across the city or in privately rented accommodation, we provide information and advice to help you find a suitable place to stay.
Rooms in Halls of Residence are allocated as applications are received, so start applying for halls as soon as you have accepted a place at UAL. Applications are made online.
There is a one-off free service for students coming from overseas. We can arrange a taxi and driver to meet you at the airport to take you to your hall of residence or private accommodation in London. A booking can be made using the link given below at least 3 days before your arrival by air.

Saintfield is the Local Representative of UAL in Malaysia. The address of our office is given below and you are welcome to visit us for counselling, advice and to browse the brochures. We do not charge for our services except when we, very occasionally, have to courier a heavy portfolio to London.
Some courses require a strong portfolio and students are advised to see the website where experts talk about what admission tutors look for in a portfolio. Or come to our office to get a CD. Malaysian students are normally interviewed by an International Coordinator from UAL twice a year. An appointment has to be made to secure a place for an interview.
However, most students come to the office to ask about the application process, accommodation, fees, scholarships, student visas, interview dates and, most importantly, the choice of the field to study.
The benefit of going through Saintfield is free advice and service and follow-up of the application until admission day.
